Description of the Project
When students learn about the environment’s declining health it is easy to feel them discouraged, but what keeps them fighting for a healthy world is the future of our children. They should not have to inherit our environmental problems and in order to keep their future bright, spreading awareness is imperative.
Environmental education provides important opportunities for students to become engaged in real world issues that transcend classroom walls. They can see the relevance of their classroom studies to the complex environmental issues confronting our planet and they can acquire the skills they’ll need to be creative problem solvers and powerful advocates.
Our project will help young world-changer to begin thinking about important and relevant issues like wildlife preservation and the effects of pollution..
Also, by the help of our project we want to motivate our students learning English and European culture.
ICT will be in the roots of our study and used extensively throughout our project and we will all support its usage and development. Including teachers whitin the project we purpose them to learn and apply new and different pedagogical approaches in their education style.
The main objectives of the project :
-To learn life long learning skills or performance and techniques that will allow pupils to participate fully in the project.
-To enable the children to realize that there are many different countries in Europe, each with their own cultures, traditions and attributes, but with a common interest in conservation.
-To increase our students’ attention on science and ecology,
-To increase our students’ science skills and performance,
-To increase our students’ artistic creation with recycled materials,
-To provide to become our students’ environment–friendly citizens,
-To increase our students’ motivations on nature activities,
-To create awareness to protect ecological balance,
-To improve ecological life philosophy on our students,
-To gain technological skills to students
-To extend further ICT and language skills which they can use in a meaningful context.
-Through the planned activities children will be encouraged to learn for themselves. They will ask questions, tackle problems, research and collaborate by involving their families in the project
Denmark is the coordinator country and Turkey, Hungary, Spain and Italy are partner countries. Our target group is ppupils aged 8/12. We will do project activities both in our own schools and partner schools’ workshops, performance halls, classrooms and nature according to 24 months calendar. With this project, students will do creative workshop activities, raise awareness to protect ecological balance, create fashion shows with the collaboration and participate to nature activities with their peers. Besides, they will design green houses and smart life areas. With these activities, the students’ foreign language communication skills, tolerance, spirit of collaboration will improve and they will discover cultural similarities and diversities.
Our schools will have chance to do international activities, our teachers will proud as they grow sensible and creative generations on ecology and science. They will have chance to observe different teaching methods in different countries and share their opinions with their collegues. The joint international work will enable teachers to understand one another’s educational systems, to adopt well tried methods in order to increase efficiency and fairness of education in childhood, experience other cultures and get to know one another as individuals rather than national stereotypes. This will equip them to challenge racism and xenophobia.
It is greater challenge for us to use Web.2.0 tools internationally than what we normally do in ICT classrooms. The schools which are experienced in ICT will inspire other partners to use them more efficiently. With the projecta friendly relationships will be set up among students by exchanging e-mails, letters or cards. It will develop tolerance, positive attitude, respect towards other religions, cultures, history, customs and art.
Through transnational meetings we intend to create strong ties of friendship trust and cooperation between the partners which cannot be done remotely. During the meetings good practices will be presented to show the wide range of methods in Europe.
